Movie Review: Star Wars The Force Awakens

I haven't done many movie reviews in a while and I just saw Star Wars, so I'd thought I'd tell you a little bit about the movie.
First of all, so many people were excited for this movie because the last Star Wars movie that was made came out over 10 years ago, so this was the first one in a LONG time. The Force Awakens is episode VII. The Star Wars films can be confusing because they didn't produce the movies in order so it doesn't just go 1,2,3... They are all pretty much scattered around.
I would recommend watching this movie in 3D because Star Wars movies have tons of action, so if you feel like you are involved in the intensity and action it is amazing. Also, my dad bought my family's tickets in advance because he knew that because it is so popular, if we just showed up, it would most likely be sold out. We saw the movie at the amc IMAX in Somerville, MA because we just couldn't wait to see it, and we just knew it would be worth it if we went to IMAX. Imax has red coushney seats, it has a big screen, and it has high quality. My experience there was awesome. Literally, in two words I would describe The Force Awakens as outrageously awesome!
Before I saw The Force Awakens, I had really watched many of the Star Wars movies, but since everybody was fired up for this new movie, I decided to give it a try, and it changed the way I interpret Star Wars and I'll watch every movie they come out with after this and previous ones too. I felt that everyone who pitched in to help make this movie did a great job picking the plot, and making sure that they could actually make a good film out of the plot. I also enjoyed how they added in some new characters, so it wouldn't just keep being the old ones that have been there from the start. Some new characters are named: Rae, Finn, Kai Lo Ren, BB8.

                                                  Spoilers

The whole movie Chewbacca, Han Solo, BB8, Finn, and Rae are on a search for Luke Skywalker
because Luke put himself  into exile on an island where nobody could get him and where he was       hiding because of a deep disappointment. BB8 had the map to find Luke, but the Dark Side was trying to capture BB8 (droid thing that rolls around), because they wanted the map. BB8 was missing 1 piece to the map.R2D2
wasn't in the movie until the last 45 min about, but a cloth was draped over his body, and BB8 pulled   it off and it turned out that once R2D2 turned on, R2D2 had the missing piece that fit in perfectly to   the map. Finn was an undercover storm trooper that was actually trying to help people escape that    were captured by the dark side. BB8 had a guy that took care of him named Po, and stormtrooper him  into a room where he was laying down, and couldn't move a muscle. Kai Lo Ren (leader of dark side)
was trying to make Po die, and suck the map information out of his head, but  finn helped Po escape
but while they were escaping they crashed in a ship on the desert, and Po was believed to be dead, but
Finn was still alive. Po actually was alive, but he only came back later in the movie. A few scenes
later, Rae, Finn, BB8 become friends, and they fly on the Millenium Falcon (which hasn't been flown in years, but they couldn't find anything else to fly in) later, they find Han Solo and Chewbacca, Rae and Finn end up have a light saber battle with Kai Lo Ren, and Han Solo's son is Kai Lo Ren but Kai Lo Ren switched to the dark side. Kai Lo Ren ends up knocking his father off a narrow walkway, and Han Solo dies. At the end of the movie Rae finds Luke and hands him the light saber.

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone had a merry Christmas! (if you celebrate it) Christmas eve night my family and I went to church and then went back to my house and had some appetizers and desserts with my grandparents.  My brother and I  decorated sugar cookies for Santa and made a small display that included many carrots, a few cookies, and a cup of milk. Later that night, it was very tough to go to sleep because I couldn't get my mind to stop thinking about opening presents early the next morning. I finally fell asleep at about 9:30,and then woke up at 3:00, again at 5:00, and again at 6:15. I kept checking the time on my I-pad because I thought the time was going by MUCH faster than it actually was. Once it was 6:15am, I had to basically force myself back to sleep because my parents told me that we weren't going open anything until 7:00am or later, so I had to keep that restriction in my head. Luckily I slept until 7:00, but to hear my brother's voice awaken me loudly whispering "Nuala, Nuala, Nuala, wake up its 7:00!" I was very happy and excited to hear that, and then we had that joyous moment of walking down the stairs and seeing mounds of presents.
My brother and I first dug deep down into our stockings. Truly, my grandma made my stocking, and it has material that every year allows the stocking to stretch and get longer. (which is a GOOD thing because that just means I get more stuff) I got: LOTS of candy, a magic 8 ball, a travel size wet brush, a card game called "Anomia", fuzzy Life is Good cabin socks, scented magnetic bookmarks that have fruits on them, different flavored chapsticks, a Gear Beast running belt to hold small things while you run, and more Hershey Kisses!
Next, my family just KNEW it was time to open presents. We opened them mostly one at a time so everyone could see what you got. I recieved: a tabletop fooseball setup, a life-size Alex Morgan (USWNT soccer player)poster, Justin Bieber's new album "Purpose", the world's cutest dog (literally, he's famous!) named Boo soft stuffed animal, a navy blue sleeping bag, a waterproof lightup "Night Ball" soccer ball, a Garmin Vivofit, which does the same thing as a fitbit, a Fugi Dynamite purple bike, Timmy Failure Sanitized for your Protection (book), Drama (book),and #2 of The Babysitters Club book, but a newer graphic novel by Raina Telgemeier, a Memorex "Stand and Sing" Which is a thing that has a round bottom, and then has a pole that goes up to a place to put the microphone that below it has at thing that you can put any device on it so you can read lyrics to a song and then you sing, a plasma car, and I got a small New England Revolution poster, some clothes, a cajon (prononced CA-HOAN) which is a drum that you sit on, and lean forward and drum with you hands, I also got some dog slippers, and last but not least, I got a card that had money inside it.
Hope you had an awesome Christmas!

Happy Holidays!

I cannot believe Christmas is only 5 days away! I have waited a whole 365 days for this wonderful holiday! At the start of  December I bought an advent calendar fill with small square milk chocolates in each "door", and I have noticed that for me, December has been going by pretty slowly...On the other hand, I have been able to wait, because I know that Christmas IS worth the wait. Also, my elf on the shelf Jolly, has been hiding in different places since the very start of December! Jolly leaves on the night before Christmas, and then he comes back the following year. Today Jolly is sitting in a bag that has a present inside it under the tree. I feel that Jolly is very cheerful and that all elves add to the amount of happiness and cheer each and every winter. Another tradition in my family is baking sugar cookies on Christmas Eve after church, and creating a nice layout that includes carrots, cookies, and a cup of milk.
In addition to that, who's ready to chill out for a week and a half and enjoy the nice part of not having to go to school or work?! Well, I don't know if you are, (I'm sure you are) but I am! There are only a couple of long-er vacations in the school year so it is crucial that you appreciate yourselves and relax. I'm sure everybody wishes that vacations could gradually go by, but unfortunately that is never the case because your usually too busy having fun! Also, winter vacation is a time when you can have a wonderful moments spending time with family/relatives, playing with presents from Christmas, and most of all, sitting on the couch watching T.V. munching on a bag of chips.

Happy Holidays! And I'll post after Christmas!

Update

Sorry I haven't posted in a while..... its been very busy with school, after school activities. (etc.)

                                                   After School Activities
After school activities have definitely made it harder to blog monthly. Recently I started playing the trombone. I enjoy it a lot because the last instrument I played was the piano, but that was on the Cape, so I thought I would start playing the trombone. I'm very excited because there is a concert coming up..... the clarinets, trumpets, snare drums, saxophones and trombones all play Jingle Bells, Lightly Row, and 1 more song.
Also, there was a invitational club I was offered to go to. The club is called Future problem Solvers, and its six of us kids and one volunteer mom. Every 2  or 3 months, we start a new problem. For instance, the problem that we're working on right now is Disappearing Languages. All of the problems are based in the future, so its fine to think creatively and think of things that you would never think of now.You also get a "Future Scene'' that has a specific event going on but its still about trying to revive  disappearing languages. First, you attempt to think of 16 problems under the category disappearing languages, but for every problem you do, you need what is called a scene fact. The scene fact has to go with and support your problem, but it has to be from the future scene.and, you also have to jot down why those problems could be problems in the future. that is step 1,so now you need step two: So next, you have to choose 1 problem that you have already thought of,(one of the 16) and gather as many solutions to that problem as possible. After that, you write down the scene fact from that problem, but in your own words. Then you write how might we: increase, reduce, maximize, minimize etc. the amount of linguists traveling the world to helps save dying languages for example. After, you record the key verb phrase you used. For example: increase, decrease, minimize, maximize etc. Finally, after that, you address why you would need to increase/decrease that situation. That is how you fully and successfully complete a booklet on the given topic.
I'm thrilled to be a part of this FPS club and soar above and beyond in creativity! There are also competitions that are held. First, its city-wide, then state-wide, and if  you  win both of those, its country/international-wide. In those competitions, you are in a room for 2 hours with an adult, (who can't tell you anything, just supervising) and you can be an individual, or with with 1 or 2 people, and I don't know what problem scheme they have you do.
I'll try my best to blog more often this winter!!:)

Bike Path down to Woods Hole

I've been at the Cape for a few days and so yesterday, I went on the bike trail with my dad and we rode our bike 10.7 miles down to Woods Hole where it ends.

So first we went down to the store where you can rent bikes, near the start of the trail and I got a nice purple bike in great condition. I tried it out and it seemed very good and fast. So after we rented the bikes and helmets, we went down to where the bike trail started. Now, the last time I did this bike trail was 3 years ago. That means I was 6 years old.  The first time I ever rode the bike path, I had just learned to ride my bike. I used training wheels on my bike but I rode the whole distance to Woods Hole! My dad picked us up (mom, Flynn, and me) and we had lunch there.

It was very hot yesterday, but when we were riding there was actually a nice breeze, so we weren't dying from the heat. I really liked my bike because it was faster then the one I have at home so since I was using a slower bike at home, I could pedal faster on the bike I had. We were riding and I only thought we were a mile in, but then my dad said "We're about 3 miles in."  Then I said "Wow!" "This is easier than I thought!"

The views were really nice, but we did not take any pictures (yet!). We were more focused on actually getting to Woods Hole. We made a little stop halfway through to drink some water and sit down on the nice bench, since our legs needed a little rest. After the break, we got on our bikes and started riding again.

Soon enough, we arrived in Woods Hole. Right away I saw this ice cream place called Jimmy's, and I asked my dad "Can I please get some ice cream to celebrate?" Of course, he said "sure", and I got a small cone with oreo ice cream on top. It was actually surprising how big it was. And the oreo ice cream was the 2nd best I've ever had. After I got my ice cream, my dad wanted coffee.  There was a coffee store really close by where he bought his coffee. After that, we returned back to our bikes.

There were nice views on the way back. I'll show you a few of them.

A panorama at the beach!!

Nice view overlooking the water

On the way back, some girls about my age, were on the side of the path selling pink lemonade for 50 cents a cup.  We bought some. We didn't know if it was store bought or homemade but I'm pretty sure it was homemade. It was soooooooo good.

We had gotten closer and closer to the end, but finally we reached the end. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

Kayaking on the Charles River

Today I went with my dad to the Charles River near where he works in Cambridge and we went kayaking in the river for a couple of hours.

My dad had been wanting to go kayaking or canoeing because in his office at work he has this awesome view of the Charles River, and everyday he sees people either canoeing or kayaking. So, he wanted to try it for a change - instead of watching it, doing it.  So he decided that he wanted to do it with our family. Unfortunately, my brother nor my mom wanted to go, so it ended up just being my dad and I.

We drove to Cambridge, and we went to the place where you start off and we were planning on getting a canoe, but the people who worked there said that since it was a little windy, the canoe would be a little tippy, so we got a 2 person kayak, which later my dad was saying would've been better anyways because in a canoe there are on benches and it is a little bit heavier, and in a 2 person kayak there is an actual seat with cushioning and its more safer.

Me in the kayak shortly after we had left the dock.

It was really beautiful and the water was really warm about 80 degrees. We never got tired of paddling - at least I didn't I don't know about my dad because he had more work in the back. The water wasn't choppy either, which was good so sometimes we could just stop paddling and just look at the beautiful sights around us.

About to go under a fountain on the way back got soaked!!

We also stopped in some lily pads to relax and take some pictures and videos.

                                                           #CharlesRiverKayakingWithTheBestDad

Sadly, we ended up at the point where we had to turn back, but it felt so nice be right on the water and I think it was a good time and I will definitely go again.

USA vs JAPAN (Finals)

USA played Japan in the finals on July 5th. USA had not won since 1999 and they had worked so hard to get to the finals, so this would be they're big day. I watched pregame coverage for 2 hours and the commentators all predicted that USA would win this big match. But they were saying that USA would have to keep possession and be aggressive.

In the 2nd minute, Morgan Brian earned the corner kick for USA and Megan Rapinoe (it was her 30th birthday) took the kick. Rapinoe placed the kick on the ground, and it just tipped a Japanese players foot, and Carli Lloyd  ran in, and with the out side of her foot, kicked the ball into the left corner. (First goal of the game 1-0 USA 3rd min.)

In the fourth min. Tobin Heath got taken down just out side the penalty box, and Lauren Holiday took the kick. (It was a tight space so I didn't think anything could happen like this) Holiday kicked it, Julie Johnston flicked it with her heel, and supposedly there was a hand ball by japan, but Carli Lloyd got the heel flick, and kicked it into the net and it went right through 2 Japanese players. (Second goal of the game 2-0 USA 4th min., also Carli Lloyd's 2nd goal) Commentators said Lloyd confirmed "I don't want to win a world cup so people stop talking about the '99 team, I want to win a world cup because i have dedicated my entire life to this, and my dream is to be a world champion".

In the 13th minute, Ali Krieger sent it in for a cross to Alex Morgan, but it was headed down low by japan. But when the Japanese player headed it, it went way up in the air and Lauren Holiday ran up to it and shot it while it was in the air and the goalie's hands went up just after the ball had passed her head, and it was a GOAL by Holiday. The USA fans and players were so happy that they had scored 3 goals in the matter of 13 min. (Third goal of the game 3-0 USA 13th min.)

Then in the 15th min. Lloyd got the ball at half field got passed a defender and noticed that Japan's goalkeeper Ayumi Kaihori had stepped up a little beyond the edge of the box, so Lloyd shot the ball from half field (50 yards from the box) and Kaihori was trying to run backwards to get the ball, and she was about to trip, although she tipped it and ball kissed the left post and went in. What an amazing goal by Carli Lloyd, and it was also her 3rd goal of the game so that means she got a hat trick!!!!! (4th goal of the game 4-0 USA 15th min.) Lloyd was also the Golden Ball winner of the Women's World Cup. NOT SURPRISED! Lloyd almost scored the 5th goal when Meghan Klingenberg crossed it, and Lloyd headed it just about a couple feet from the goal it missed.

Japan scored a goal when Kawasumi passed a straight pass to Yuki Ogimi and Julie Johnston tried to slide and did, but Ogimi turned around shot, and Hope Solo tipped the ball, though it was to fast and it went right in. (First goal of the game for Japan 4-1 USA 26th min.)

At halftime the score was 4-1. In the second half, 51st min., Japan had a free kick about 30 feet away from the half field line, and their best player took it, and Julie Johnston was trying to head it out, except Hope Solo wasn't expecting the ball to go just beyond the goal line and in. So sadly that was an own goal by Johnston which made it 4-2. (Second goal of the game for Japan 4-2 USA 51st min.)

Then in the 53rd minute, we got a corner kick and Lauren Holiday took it. Holiday's ball in was a little past the right post, but Morgan Brian somehow kept it in and passed it to Tobin Heath who had nobody covering her,and she smashed it into the right corner. GOAL! (5th goal for USA 5-2USA 53rd min.)

I was very pleased with the way USA played and I was very happy for them. I hope to go and cheer on USA in the next FWWC (Fifa Women's World Cup) in France 2019.

Fifa Women's World Cup

I have been watching the Fifa women's world cup for the past month, and I've watched every game that USA has played, and today is the ultimate rematch: USA vs. JAPAN. These same 2 teams had met in the finals in 2011, and now 4 years later, they meet again. I watched the semifinal JAPAN vs ENGLAND and it was a devastating loss for England at the last stoppage minute. I was sure that it would go into penalty kicks, but right at the last moment Japan crossed it, the England defender was there and she was trying to kick the ball over the crossbar, it hit the crossbar and just went over the goal line. Not to mention, when the score was 1-1, those goals were both penalty kicks.  The score ended up being 2-1 Japan. I also watched the semifinal USA vs.GERMANY. and what a game that was. It was scoreless in the first half, and in the second have USA scored their 2 goals. I thought Germany was going to score when they got a penalty shot because Julie Johnston (on our team) pulled back somebody who was about to shoot. Unfortunately Johnston got yellow carded and I don't think she can play in the finals. When Germany's best player Sasic (sounded like sausage) when up to take the kick she shot the ball and it missed the net!! After the game, commentators were saying that Hope Solo (USA goalkeeper) was using a stalling technique when she was up against a PK. Germany was heartbroken, and USA was cheering very loud, and was clearly very happy. Next, Alex Morgan (USA) was running really fast with the ball, and she fell over someone and Morgan earned a penalty kick for our team! The Germany player got yellow carded also, and Carli Lloyd was going to take the kick. Lloyd looked at the ball the whole time, so the German goalkeeper wouldn't even get an idea of where she was going to shoot the ball.  The ref blew the whistle, and Carli Lloyd drained it into the back of the net. GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The crowd went wild. It was 1-0 USA!!! Later in the game Carli Lloyd was in the box, did some great moves to beat the defenders and crossed it in the air to Kelley O'hara who tipped it in the net! GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!! 2-0 USA!!!!! That was Kelley's first goal of her career, and everybody knew that USA had won the game even though thee were 15 min. left. After the game I was so happy that USA was going onto the finals, and Germany was out. And Germany was favored to win the game, but NOPE USA had once again had a shutout.

I am so excited for the game tonight vs. JAPAN. I'll be watching full pregame coverage at 5pm and the game starts at 7pm. My family and I will be cheering very loud for USA tonight and I hope they win! GO USA!!!

Out of School, and Summer has Begun!!

A couple days ago it was my last day of school. All of the teachers told every kid what class they were going to be in. Every grade has to have three teachers at least, and since one of the third grade teachers was going to have a different job in the school they had to hire somebody to be one of the teachers. And one of the first grade teachers was going to be a fourth grade teacher too, and the one other teacher was going to stay in fourth grade. My teacher announced "TBD: Nuala Rodgers". TBD stood for TO BE DETERMINED, and that was the teacher that they were going to hire, so instead of meeting our new teacher, we talked to the teacher that was going to have a different job in the school. And she told us about 4th grade. The principal walked in, and she said that the school had hired someone, but she had to run it by the superintendent first. She said that once they had officially hired the teacher, we would come in and have a little "meet and greet" with her so we can see what she is like.  My new class only has 15 kids in it! Compared to other classes that's not much. It leaves you on a cliff hanger to not know who your teacher is, but I'm sure it will be someone good.

On Friday (first day of summer) I had my birthday party at an indoor trampoline park called Skyzone. It was SO much fun. We jumped for an hour, and then we ate pizza and a Reece's ice cream cake. We. jumped on the main court for a while, and then we jumped in the foam pit a couple times, and after for the rest of the time we played dodgeball on the dodgeball court. Unfortunately my party was split up when we played. After we jumped, we took a sip from the water fountain, and went in the birthday party room.  First we had DHOP (Dedham House Of Pizza). It was really good. second everybody sang Happy Birthday and I blew out the candle that was in the ice cream cake. I had 2 slices of the Reece's cake. Everybody enjoyed talking and eating at the table. Soon after, everybody left except for my 2 friends that I was bringing home. I got lots of presents and gift cards and cards I noticed once I got home and I was opening everything. This was the best party ever!

Just an Update For my Blog

I know I haven't been posting much. It's because I've been very busy with soccer, and honestly just life.

My third year school year has finally come to an end. I get out of school on June 25th. I'm glad its coming to an end because we've had to make up numeros snow days, and have gone over the date that was expected. But I'm also kind of sad, because I'm leaving my friends, but I'll probably see them over the summer. It's been a pretty good year. It was definitly a step up from 2nd grade. More reading and writing. I'm sure 4th grade will be a little harder too. It's been a long but good school year.

Most of my summer will be spent at camp. I have to go for 6 weeks, and let me tell you, camp ig tosn't my favorite thing. But I think the camp I'm going to will be one of the best camps i've been too. It has a pool and a waterpark, and bumper boats and tennis. And you don't have to bring a lunch! The facility buys the food from a sandwich place in Dedham Square. You can go rock climbing, drama, and other sports. The camp is called Dedham Health and Athletic Complex. It's also where my brother does tennis.

My club soccer season is over, but it was a good season and I was offered to play with the U10 team so I will play next year too. My club is called GPS Metro Boston, and I play on an all boys team. On my town soccer team, I only have one more game this Saturday in Milton. We have only lost 1 game in the whole season, and even if we lose to Milton we will get 1st place in the whole league because the team that we lost to, tied with one of the teams that hasn't won a single game this season. So we clinched 1st place!
I am going to be posting more throughout the summer!!

Sleep Over With my Cousins

My cousins are here tonight to have a sleepover. Their names are Ruby and Maggie. We had a day full of shopping in Legacy Place and we went bowling at Ron's. We had a great time. It's nice to have cousins over when you don't get to seen them that much. We played this game called Apples to Apples. We were laughing SO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well we have been laughing so hard all day. When we went to the stores in legacy place we got at least 1 thing per person, so in all we really went all out. We went to Ron's which is a bowling alley in Hyde Park, and they have ice cream there too. The firsts round of bowling Ruby won, and the second round I won. And both times Maggie came in second. Ruby and Maggie and I all said that ron's ice cream is mad good. And we played on our electronic devices some of the day.

Patriots Parade on Boylston St.

Last Wednesday

I went with my dad and my brother to the Patriots Parade in Boston. Boy, was it FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You were frost-bound. It felt like a hundred below zero (in my perspective).

We took the train in and it was packed with pats fans. Only us 3 and 2 other people made it onto the train, the rest of the people who had been waiting on the platform were told to wait for the next train! The seats were filled and the aisles were filled.

When we were walking towards Boylston St., we got interviewed by NECN. The gentleman asked us 2 questions, and I thought we answered them well, but I guess they were looking for rowdy loud fans to be on tv once we had watched the video. Kind of disappointing, because I do want to be on tv.  It was 9:30 am by then, and surprisingly there were not much people standing behind the gates, so we found a really good spot.

My toes started numbing up and felling raw, so about an hour or 30 minutes later right as City Sports opened my dad ran to the store and got hand warmers and toe warmers so that we wouldn't feel like our feet or hands were about to freeze off. Dad was our savior when he did that, because  I bet I couldn't stay that long without something warming up my feet and toes. We had to wait like 2 hours maybe even 3 hours for the parade to "start" BUT, the patriots were 40 minutes late!!! So, we had to stay in the cold for 40 more minutes!!

Across the street in a building there was this flexibility room called "The Genius of Flexibility" and there was this guy stretching in the window and looking out the window, and the three of us just said and thought "I wish I was warm in that room getting smoothies and stretching and have a relaxed time, and my dad said "Next time we come here, we should book ourselves a spot at The Genius of Flexibility."

People kept screaming, and we thought the first duck boat would be coming by, but then it would always be a police car. Seriously people, c'mon, its a police car!

But finally, the first duck boat came with Tom Brady, but he was on the other side of the boat, so we saw Jimmy Garapolo. I'm only going to tell the major patriots.

We saw Julian Edelman he was very cool. He was on top of the duck boat sitting and he had two signs: one that had Richard Sherman about to cry at the end of the game when it got intercepted, and remember when they scored because Derell Revis couldn't get there on time, well Derell Revis is number 24, and the score was 24 for them he held up his fingers saying 2 4, so when he held up four, and we won our fourth super bowl, it was clever to make a sign like that.

OH YEAH, WE SAW GRONK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He had a bouquet of flowers, so, my theory was that someone gave him the bouquet. And, get this, he was tossing the flowers out to ladies. I love his kid like smile!

We also saw Malcolm Butler WHOOP WHOOP!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't think it was him but then I was like oh its butler! #HERO. Then I started screaming a lot.

I also saw Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick, and I swear Bill Belichick looked me in the eye. I swear!

I also saw Stephen Gostkowski (our AMAZING kicker) who has kicked field goals our whole season, and who has not let their toe get numb during the cold.

Then, I saw these 3 guys, one was Lagereate Blount, and there was 2 other guys. on the music box, being patriots swag.

A lot of people were there and it was so pats nation WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#patsarebeast

Super Bowl 49

So there was a very intense game last night. Lets call it "Super Bowl 49"
Yesterday I went to  my cousins house to watch the super bowl: Patriots vs. Seahawks. Now, this was a HUGE game. We almost made it 7-0 us, but Gronk couldn't catch the long throw into the endzone  that Brad had thrown. But after a few more first downs we were like 10 yards away from getting a touchdown, and Brady passed it to Brandon LaFell and we scored. So it made it 7-0 us.  Both teams scored more, and at halftime it was 14-14. The halftime show was good. I think Katy Perry is a good singer a did a phenomenal job at halftime. I really liked the song firework because she was standing on this shooting star thing that arose high up into the air, and then it lit up and was shooting sparks out the end of it. All of her performances that went with her songs were very creative. She did better than I thought. When they returned back to the football game, they kept fighting though Seattle scored another touchdown to make the score turn 24-14 Seahawks, and right then I got this feeling like "oh, this is going to be a long and hard game". But then Edelman faked out the defender the other way and almost got a touchdown, but Brady threw it too high. Remember brady, Edelman is 5-10. Next play though they hike it, fake run it, and Brady passes it right in the middle to Amendola for the TOUCHDOWN!!! YAY! That made the score 21-24 for the field goal was good. When the Seahawks had the ball after us, they didn't push hard enough to get a touchdown, so then it became our ball again. NOTE: I skipped some points. After some first downs, we were really close, and then Brady passed it to Edelman for the touchdown. It made the score 28-24 pats. When the Seahawks got the ball, Russel Wilson did a long long throw, and everybody thought that our guy blocked it, but it never touched the ground, and they recovered it. It was so nerve-racking to see that play. Next thing you know, they run the ball to Marshawn Lynch, and he was a half of a yard from the touchdown line. This was definitely the last play of the game, and my whole cousins house was groaning. OH NO! Next play Rusell Wilson passes the football to his teammate Lockette, and MALCOLM BUTLER INTERCEPTS THE BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE PATRIOTS WON SUPER BOWL 49!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT WAS THE PLAY THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Malcolm Butler was almost going to be let off the team because he wasn't showing that he was good, but he earned he spot back. and I think he is going to be a big help in the upcoming seasons.

Sledding at Dedham Country Day School with my friend

Today my friend Sarah and I went sledding behind a school. The hills were pretty big, and soon we discovered another bigger hill. We had to buy tubes because we were one sled short. When we arrived at the hills we started using the sleds we brought, and then my dad blew up one tube so that we could use it. We sighted our friends Amanda, Ally, and Nora, and we played with the tube, although, but sometimes we disagreed on who should go first, and how many people should go in the tube at once. We went down the hill different ways. Soon after, my dad had another tube that he blew up. So then it made it easier to share it. Me, Amanda, and my other friend Sarah, went down the hill, and we made a chain with our tubes. Amanda and Sarah were in one tube, and I was in the other tube.  When you make a chain it means you hold onto each others snow tube handles, and go down the hill. When we were about to go down the hill, we noticed Ally and Nora just talking at the bottom of the hill, where our tubes were headed. We sledded/snow tubed down the hill about a million times. It got tiring walking up the hill every time after we had gone down the hill. It also made it hard to walk back up the because the snow was so deep. Then, Ally, Nora, and Amanda had to leave, and Sarah and I noticed a  big hill, and it was like two hill put together. Unfortunately, we could only go on that hill once and then we had to leave.

BLIZZARD IS STILL DANGEROUS

BLIZZARD IS STILL DANGEROUS

BY:NUALA RODGERS (REPORTING FROM DEDHAM)

The blizzard is still dangerous to drive in. I wouldn't recommend skiing, snowboarding, tubing in this weather because the gusts of winds are really blowing hard, and the snow is hard with the wind. In Dedham there is about 2 feet of snow. I was trying to shovel a little path to get out of my driveway, and boy, was that snow thick! I wasn't wearing my snow pants at first, but then, when I stepped in it felt like quicksand like I was sinking in, there was so much snow! But what's kind of frustrating is when you shovel, the winds are going to keep blowing, and soon, the snow will be right where it was before. A few hours after, I went back out. I was out there for about 3 hours, helping my neighbor, trying to sled, (but didn't success)and trying to make a snow house (not successful either)while my dad was using our snow blower snow blowing the driveway. NOTE: THE SNOW DRIFTS ARE BAD. I could barely move the snow was higher than my waist! Seriously! When you try to shovel sometimes its irritating because when you are trying to shovel one way, the snow blows on the back of your coat and it crackles, and if you are faced the other way, it blows in your face. My friends on the reporter team have to stay in the cold, and report for people watching the news, and I feel kind of bad for them because they have to stay in the cold standing and talking. And when your standing, you really FREEZE TO DEATH in this snowing weather. In some places in Massachusetts, the snow keeps escalating and increasing. Well, I'll be reporting some more later!!

THE DEDHAM TIMES: FULL REPORT ON THE BLIZZARD

   BREAKING NEWS: BLIZZARD OF 2015

BY: NUALA RODGERS (REPORTING FROM DEDHAM)

Blizzard of 2015 is really going
to come down hard. Make sure you
did all of your grocery shopping,

   DEDHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLS: CLOSED
   OFFICALLY. Power might go out

so make sure you have your batteries
in your lanterns and they're ready
to go. Most stores have their
lanterns sold out, so the best
thing that would work if you
don't have lanterns would be to
light candles. And if you can't
   live without your mobile device,
you better charge it and savor it
just for the important things like
watching CHANNEL 5 on your phone,
or the radar. Tomorrow would be an
unsafe day to go snowboarding, skiing, tubing, (etc.)because the
weather is going to be bad, and its unsafe to go skiing in a
blizzard. But, definitely Wednesday is okay to be doing snow
activities because the blizzard won't be going on, but there
will be a whole lot of snow! It will also be unsafe to drive
in your car places because it will be very snowy, slushy, and it
will be hard to drive because there will be thick snow hard to
move, and if you don't wipe off your car that would be dangerous
too. So, only if it is a real emergency, don't drive places with
your car. There will be full report on the blizzard 24-7, so stay
   tuned!!

My New T.V. Obsession: The Middle

So, ever since my favorite TV show Good Luck Charlie stopped producing new episodes, I was just trying to browse Disney Channel but, there weren't a lot of good TV shows. Well, a couple months later my mom started watching this show called The Middle. At first I said "Nah, this isn't going to be good." That is NOT true anymore now that it is my favorite show. So when my mom kept watching it, I started watching it. And now I LOVE it.

Its about this family that usually get into funny problems, and you don't even know how many laughs my family gets. But, when you watch it, you can relate to it very good because its like the regular family. Sue (the big sister) goes to her first boy party, Axl, (big brother one year older than Sue) is with his friends trying to be mean to Sue to be cool in front of his friends, and Brick, (fifth grader, youngest sibling) kind of nerd-type, always wandering to different places, if you watch it, you'll totally relate to what I'm saying. I highly recommend it. Sue is the main character, and she is very funny, and she sometimes tries to do something, and when the subject isn't that good, she pretty much fails.

Well, I don't want to give it all away, but you can check it out on ABC family. Again, you'll get a lot of laughs out of it, and you will relate to it a lot. Check it out!😃

Part 2 of Patriots "Deflate-gate" (Bill Belichick)

So now that I see Bill Belichick talking "Science guy" he seems more honest and more detailed about this subject. I think he did a great job talking about it more, with more details and not just saying at the end "I've told you everything I know", and, "I have no knowledge of that." Because, lets face it. In his first press conference he didn't tell a lot, and he just didn't pull it of that well. He had only a couple major stories, and then he couldn't answer the questions well. But, sunshine and light!! In his second press conference he did great, and told way more of the story. Reporters were calling him the "science guy" because he was so detailed, and more marvelous then usual. But then they put on the real science guy Bill Nye, and he was insulting Belichick, and doing some science experiments trying to tell Bill he was wrong and throw him under the bus. And what was a real dissapointer was right at the end he said "GO SEAHAWKS!"

Patriots "Deflate-gate"

Literally, why did the Patriots have to deflate 11 out of the 12 game balls? Seriously. I definitely think that Belichick could've said more, and he definitely knew way more than he said. And I think it was cheap when he just kept saying at the end "Ive told you everything I know" And then when the reporters would ask another question he again would say "Ive told you everything I know, I have no  knowledge of that." And when he said at the end "ask Tom", I thought that was totally uncoachlike, and I felt like he was just trying to get the press conference over with. I think Bill totally did NOT want to talk about the deflated balls, but I get it. Who wants to talk about if their team deflated balls? I wouldn't if I was him. I just think that Belichick didn't like the subject he had to talk about.

Second is Brady's press conference..... you could tell that he didn't like talking about the subject either. But I think he did a better job telling about it- more details, and more telling exactly what he did. I also think he did a better job answering the questions that the reporters asked. As I said, I think he did a good job telling exactly what he did. For example, he said that he picks out the amount of balls he thinks is good, and then gives them to the ball boys, and after that, never touches them again until plays are in action.

But what I also think is not good is that the refs handle the balls EVERY SINGLE PLAY and they only noticed it once. They didn't even take any time to push their hands into the ball to see if it had any air.

Scientists were saying also that if you leave a ball/balls in a warm room, and then take them out into the cold, the pressure can drop, and the balls can deflate a little bit. So, you never know, it might not have been anyone, it could just be that.

And what I think they should do is they should interview every player that was on the field that game and ask them the questions that they asked Brady and Belichick. The Patriots might lose a draft pick for next year, or they might get fined. WELL, GO PATRIOTS!!!!😃

Soccer Clubs I am Involved in this Winter

Throughout the 2 seasons I have played soccer, I have really grown on it. This winter I wanted to try a a soccer club, but still participate in travel in the spring. I wanted to join a soccer club to get exercise throughout the winter because then I don't have to be rusty when I go back to travel in the spring. And, I love getting feedback no my skills, and learning ways to get around a defender moves that will help during the circumstance your in on the field. Soccer clubs have soccer players from around the world who LOVE playing soccer, and that are in major clubs form where they are from.  When you play with them they are really into it. And, the coach has more expertise and is more experienced rather then a town/travel coach. (even though I LOVE travel soccer). So, in the outcome it was good.

I am in 2 indoor soccer clubs! YAY! The fist club I'm in is called Skills 11. The instructors call it "Skills 11" because every week they teach you 1 move by a famous soccer player, and you focus on the move the whole practice. You do games involving that move, and you do some other drills with that move.Skills 11 is every Sunday at 2:00 in Waltham. I've only been to 1 practice, but its very fun. We learned a move called the double touch.I worked with this gentleman from Scotland. He had kind of a strong accent of Scottish. But, he taught us very well. I think I will work with him for the rest of the session. Tomorrow I'm getting the shirt that they give out with the logo on it and information about it.

My second soccer club I am in is called Coastal North. It is at this school called Dedham Country Day every Saturday. I'm doing the club with most of my travel soccer team, and other girls from other team. Same with Skills 11, we focus on 1 thing, and do games for the skill, and then we play a scrimmage at the end. When we are doing the scrimmage, we also focus on the skill we have been learning, and try to practice it during the game so that when we are in a real game maybe we could do that skill to fake someone out.

I love soccer, so if I play it year-round its even better!!!!😊:-P
